When I started this whole embroidery gig about a week and a half ago, I had about a dozen colors of DMC left over from my friendship bracelet days when my kids were younger. After stitching four blocks, I have significantly less than that.
As of today, thanks to the generosity of one ultra-fabulous and equally as generous Queen Shirley, I now have a HUGE and extraordinarily well-organized collection of DMC.
Project of Doom book titles, here I come!

wow! you really comited! good for you and way to be organized. :0)
Oh no, I didn’t do that! These were a gift from a friend. She doesn’t use DMC anymore, so passed it all on to me. Now, if I can try to stay that organized…
Looks like you will definately not run out of thread anytime soon! There are a lot of sites which have free patterns.

You’re right, I think I’m set for a while! I have a lot of stitching to do on my current project and then I’m hoping to draw some of my own. It’s more addictive than I expected!
One thing I do enjoy about handwork (hand piecing/quilting, hand embroidery/cross stitch) is that it can be done while in the family room so I can still converse with my husband. This way he doesn’t feel left out. Otherwise if I am in my craft room sometimes he asks when I am going to be done. Also great for long car rides.
I find it to be very relaxing and it makes me think of my ancestors (I know sounds weird-but I am a history person) making blankets/clothes and such by hand for their family to stay warm.
I do handwork for the same reason. Usually, I crochet or hand quilt, and this is a nice addition to my options!
I feel the same way about handwork…connected to my ancestors. 🙂
