Welcome back to the Rainbow Cascade Quilt Along!
Today is Nudge 14, our final Rainbow Cascade nudge!
Remember, Rainbow Cascade is made from a single block repeated in a rainbow of colors. Once you’ve completed your blocks, follow the chart in the pattern to piece your Rainbow Cascade quilt top.
Haven’t started yet? It’s never too late! Thanks to my Patreon Patrons, this quilt along post will remain free for your quilting pleasure.
And here it is, my own completed quilt top!
A lot has happened since I first created the pattern for Rainbow Cascade. I want to thank each and every person who has joined me on what turned into an amazing journey!
I’d also like to share an extra thanks to my friends who allowed me to photograph in their beautiful home. The weather (and pollen!) haven’t been great for outdoor photography.
Did you make this quilt, too? Share in our Facebook Group or tag it & me on Instagram – #rainbowcascadeqal @sewhookedjen!
I added a white 3″ (3 1/2″ with seam allowance) outside border to my 70″ x 80″ Rainbow Cascade. My final quilt top is 76″ x 86″ (+ 1/2″ for binding). If a simple border like this is something you would like to do, I HIGHLY recommend cutting your border to the appropriate size first and pinning well before stitching. Rainbow Cascade’s many pieces are fraught with bias edges. Accurate borders will help keep your quilt top edges from distorting.
Need a little help with fabric amounts for your borders? I use the Robert Kaufman Quilting Calculator App on my smartphone. This is not a paid endorsement, I just love the app! It’s highly useful to calculate amounts for borders, backs, binding, and more.
Need to learn to paper piece? I can help with that!

Want to choose your own colors? Here’s a fill-in-the-blank color chart!
I highly recommend using an Add-A Quarter-Ruler during paper piecing to minimize bulk AND to press seams open when piecing paper pieced sections together. You’ll find more instructions in the pattern document.
