Hello, friends! My HST top is now quilted! I left it on my Gracie King frame (currently set up for Queen size) to show you my quilting setup. I also chat about fabric at my local Michael’s and tease an upcoming project.
I used Pellon 100% cotton batting in my quilt purchased at Michael’s.
The video looks long, but I only talk until 7:34:21. The rest of the video shows one pass of quilting with the Q’Nique. My machine is not computerized and I love Free Motion Quilting (FMQ) so that’s what you get to see! It’s been a while since I quilted and I forgot to use my lint roller first which I am sure you’ll notice by my left hand regularly guest starring to pick lint off the top.

Oh I have occasionally realized my roll is lower than I expected. I have only bought a package to try new batting in the past few years. There is a mom and pop outside Houston that I bought a king size package at Festival. I really like it. It maybe my next roll purchase.
Michaels is slowly trying to replace JoAnns. I bought a few things a couple weeks ago.
It would be lovely to have someone step up after JoAnns Death by Private Equity.
Ahh I did give you that. My machine hates it. lol I wanted to love it. Every time I have tried to switch threads, I go back to Superior So Fine.
The camera mount works great!
Happy Sewing!
I’ll probably hit my lqs next time I need batting. The one I like to shop at is a little bit of a drive and I wanted it NOW, as you do!
I’m a very occasional Michael’s shopper so they could reset the whole store and I wouldn’t know for months! They are however close and easy access. And right next door to an HEB. 😉
The camera mount worked a treat! I was rummaging around looking for something to use and definitely had an aha moment.
Glide=❤️ for my machines
I am very similar with Michaels. I am usually there after S and I have worn out the local Creative Reuse. She will still need some art supplies. Generally maybe twice a year.
I don’t know if I just got a bad batch but I had a really bad luck with the last roll of Hobbs I bought. I had gone back to warm n natural but probably will buy a roll or two next time I’m in Houston from the place I found. I did the King Nebula with their batting and loved it.
Nothing like a good creative reuse!
That is such a bummer about the last roll of Hobbs. I figure since I won’t be buying rolls, it’s a good time for me to audition some other batting and see if there’s something out there that I haven’t tried before that I like better. Something sustainable would be nice..
I believe I used the bamboo/cotton blend on the Nebula quilt. I am definitely going to try some straight bamboo next. They do ship but since I go down to Houston a few times a year why ship.
