Fabric Friday – Scraps
For Fabric Friday this week, I want to talk about one of my favorite kinds of fabrics… Scraps! Scraps come in all shapes and sizes. They are they leftovers, consider tossable by many that sew, scraps are my preferred palate for many projects, including paper piecing and a fun technique I’ve been enjoying lately passed on my by friend Osie and the book, It’s A Wrap.
Purple scraps became a gorgeous tote that I made for my best friend, Jewells’, birthday.
Many of these fabrics were purples used in the quilt I made for a previous birthday gift for Jewells.
Another type of scrap I’ve become increasingly fond of is selvage. Selvage has been turned into all kinds of things and there’s a whole blog dedicated to it! I saved mine up, with the help of my quilty friends, and made a bowl.
So, for Fabric Friday, rethink your scraps…there is treasure lurking in there, if only you’re willing to look for it!
See photos from the It’s A Wrap class I taught this week!

Fabric Friday – OWLS!
I couldn’t resist this 1/2 yard of fabric when I came across it at the Austin quilt show last weekend. Owls + Robert Kaufman Fabric = LOVE!

Wordless Wednesday – A Busy Week
Fabric Friday
This fabric reminds me of childhood and summer dresses. I only have a couple of pieces of it, and it’s allotted to be made into a Linus quilt. I hope to have the cutting done for that by the end of the weekend.
Tomorrow, I’ll be at Honey Bee Quilt Store for Linus Work Day. Stop by, bring your machine and make a quilt top! Fabric is provided.
There is still room in my UFPP (Unfinished Paper Piecing) Class, also at Honey Bee, on Sunday, 1:30 – 4:30. UFPP is for anyone that needs a little help with their paper piecing or would just like to stitch with other paper piecing lovers! Please note this is not a beginning class. If you’d like to register, please call 512.257.1269 or drop by the store, just to make sure your’e on the list!

Fabric Friday
This fabric came into my life before I became addicted… I mean before I learned to paper piece! I’d says it’s been floating around in my stash for at least 6 or 7 years. I pull it out from time to time because it’s a lovely soft fabric with a little bit of sheen. I think it was given to me as a gift or maybe in a swap.
I have two pieces that together make about a fat quarter. The question now, is what to do with this lovely fabric? I collect mainly batiks and tone on tone fabrics because I primarily paper piece. This fabric is begging for a project, and maybe not a quilting one. What do you think it should be?
Happy Crafting!
