Wow, week 6 of the Doctor Who Stitch Along! How did it roll around so fast?
Oh, right. End of the school year. Graduation. Vacation. AND I gave away a Harry Potter quilt.
Time flies when you’re busy!
Stitching The Doctor has been a very zen experience for me. For some reason, I have gravitated towards backstitching and I’ve very much enjoyed sitting in the evening stitch, stitch, stitching away.
The Sixth Doctor, who I designed for the SAL, is the obvious exception for backstitching. French knots, and lots of! Mmm, texture!
The Doctors so far, stitched by me. Designers are noted below.
The First Doctor, Designed by Aalia Zaman
The second Doctor, Designed by Jennifer Ofenstein (me!)
The Third Doctor, Designed by Aalia Zaman
The Fourth Doctor, Designed by Kim Kuehn
The Fifth Doctor, Designed by Kristel Carnahan
The Sixth Doctor, Designed by Jennifer Ofenstein
I’ve been playing with the idea of adding additional sashing to each of my blocks, or possibly adding another block in between. This Doctor Who quilt will be for my daughter and she’d like to take it to college with her in the fall. I’d like it to be the right size for the super long twin bed that will be in her dorm room. Fortunately, I still have a little time to decide which direction to go from here!
Now that The Doctor has had his day (Wednesday, of course!), it’s back to work for me. I am in the process of updating each pattern in my Sunbonnet Sue’s Magical Friends Series. For the first time ever, I’ll be offering each block from every set individually, something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time! These will be available exclusively in my Craftsy shop.
Until next time!
