TTMT #595 – Mail & My BFF’s Birthday

It’s a LONG video today because I had rather a lot to share! I hope you’re all well. ♥

TTMT #594 – Positive Attitude

A number of people have reached out and asked how I’m managing my repetitive stress injury (RSI) with all the crocheting. Early this year, my primary care physician recommended fish oil to help keep my cholesterol in check. It has had the rather amazing side effect of REALLY helping with my RSI and with arthritis in general. I’m not recommending it to you because it’s also a blood thinner (see cholesterol comment above) and I’m obviously not a doctor. That’s my secret, though, and I have no complaints about that!

Correction from last week: I think I told you all that the hats I’ve been making start with an 8″ circle and go from there. They do not! They start with a 6″ circle. Sorry about that.

TTMT #583 – Embroidery Corner

I did some rearranging and am using my embroidery machine again! Welcome to my dark and not-so-mysterious bedroom.

Free Pattern Friday – Groovy Mushrooms

free-pattern-friday

Welcome back to Free Pattern Friday!

I always look forward to getting to share with you. ♥

Groovy Mushrooms

Today I’m sharing an old favorite.!

This was my very first hand embroidered pieces made in 2010 or 2011. This was early in my days of learning to hand embroider. This little hoop hangs next to my desk as a reminder that we’re always learning. Also, I think it’s sweet. 🙂

Groovy Mushrooms was inspired by a vintage hand-drawn pattern that came to me in a pile of other things. Date and original designer unknown. I can tell you that the original version was brittle with age and practically fell apart in my hands when I held it. This is my own take on that original doodle.  I share with you now in homage to the unknown, but obviously groovy, artist!

New Pattern! French Macarons to Paper Piece or Hand Embroider

french macaron title

Fresh from the Sewhooked Suggestion box, with BIG thanks to Robin B for the idea, I’m pleased to share French Macarons, a new pattern now available in my Craftsy Shop.

This pattern is dedicated o $10+ Patron Susan Pepper. Thank you for your support, Susan!

This $2.95 pattern includes:

  • 6 – 4” x 6” individual Macarons patterns to make a 12” pattern to paper piece (12 1/2” unfinished)
  • 10” design to hand embroider (stitch on 12 1/2” or larger fabric)

Get it on Craftsy

macaron half dozen diff colors 12 in

Robin’s suggestion was for French Macarons to paper piece. I wanted a simple way to make as many of these delectable treats as you wanted for your quilt, so instead of designing an overall block, I went for something more modular. Make as many as you like. Make them one color or mix it up for a fun, colorful selection!

I’ve also been wanting to include more hand embroidered designs in my patterns. The embroidery is included here as a bonus to see how you like it as an option. If hand embroidery is something you’d like to see more of my patterns, let me know!

Free Pattern Friday – Crazy Cakes!

free-pattern-friday

Welcome back to Free Pattern Friday!

Today is my birthday!

*throws confetti*

I recently spent a whole lot of time cleaning up the hard drive on my computer. During this adventure in bytes, I found tons of unfinished patterns, sketches, doodles, and whatnot, all of which I’d never shared.

At some point it the distant past, I sat and doodled a slew of cupcakes with personality for hand embroidery. Why? Not a clue, but when I rediscovered these designs, it occurred to me that nothing could be more perfect for my birthday post!

I hope you enjoy these personality-filled cupcakes to hand embroider. Happy birthday to me!

Curly Swirly Butterfly!

Curly Swirly Butterfly

Curly Swirly Butterfly is now available for just $2.95 in my Craftsy Shop.

I drew Curly Swirly Butterfly a couple of weeks back when I was sick and didn’t feel like doing much but doodle. In this case, my doodle turned into something so fun, that I even made it available as a t-shirt and bought myself one, too!

This fun pattern can be backstitched, stem stitched, or finished using your favorite embroidery stitch.

GREAT BIG THANKS to Robin & Rainey for stitching this sweet design up for me. (Click the links to check them out on Instagram!)
