Welcome to my post for Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, vol. 11 Blog Tour! I’m thrilled that you’re here and I’m super-duper extra excited to share my 6th 100 Blocks pattern!
Be sure to keep reading to the end to find out how to be entered to win today’s prizes!
Introducing Sandbox Sisters! These two little gals are inspired by two of my friends, Amber & Jewells. Love ya, ladies!
You can find the Sisters hanging out on the top left side of page 25.
If these girls remind you of Sunbonnet Sue, that’s because she’s one of my absolute favorites to design! I love her so much, she and her friends have an entire page right here on Sewhooked.
I used Kona cotton for the background and lots of fun scraps for the rest. I just love how their little shovels and sandals turned out!
This is what the girls looked like before I made them in fabric.
Just like all of my patterns, this block was designed in EQ.
And now, I have the pleasure of giving away not one, but two prizes!
First up is a free issue of Vol. 11 directly from Quiltmaker!
The second prize will come directly from me and includes a beautiful bundle of fabric courtesy of Debbie B. and two of my own patterns, Sir Gareth’s Dragon and In A Castle. I’m so excited to be able to give such gorgeous teal fabric away! Big thanks to Debbie for being so very generous! 🙂
You can find both of the above patterns in my Craftsy Pattern Shop.
Two enter to win BOTH the free issue of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Vol. 11 AND the Sewhooked prize, just comment below and let me know what your favorite spring activity is!

My favorite spring activity is walking through the forest and hunting for those elusive morel mushrooms. What a wonderful scent spring brings to the forest.
I love the dragon pattern! And I very much love your Sandbox Sisters, it reminds me of Judy Bloom’s “Summer Sisters”, one of my favorite books when I was a teenager. My favorite thing to do in the spring is picking fiddleheads with my husband. They only come up this time of year and they’re a wonderful maritime treat!

Spring! Breathing fresh air is my favorite thing to do after a good rain. Especially when we camp. I have 5 Sisters and a Daughter who I love to get together with and Quilt! Quilting is our therapy! We even sew gadgets for each other! I think one of my Sisters has made a quilt for every person she works with. My idol! Another idol is Jennifer Ofenstein! Love being outside, walking, setting and hand stitching or reading, a beautiful time here in Texas Hill Country

My favorite spring activities so far have been cleaning up my sewing room and adding a new sewing desk where I have enough space to FMQ my quilts on my small domestics home machine. Cleaning up has given me a chance to put my design wall in a better place and create a cutting center with a big self healing surface so I do not have to always resort to commondeering the diningroom table. So much fun has been had making this space my own!

This book looks great! My favorite spring activity is to be outside as much as possible, enjoying my flowers and vegetable garden. mabay1981@gmail.com
I also LOVE sunbonnet sue! I’ve made sunbonnets for all the little girls in my family, and even quilts for both my daughter and niece. As for spring activities, I could say I like going to the beach before the summer rush, perhaps picking blackberries for sweet homemade jam, or even just sitting outside on the swing watching the hummingbirds buzz about the honeysuckle flowers, but what I enjoy spending most of my time doing in spring(or anytime of the year!) is SEWING! There’s so much to do and so little time! Sewing is like a good book. It’s sweet and relaxing some moments, frustrating and suspenseful at others, and when you get to the final product, you look back and marvel at the wonderful adventure you just had! Then of course, you show EVERYONE who will look! xD
Happy sewing to all,
Jewel
