Rainbow Cascade – Let’s Get Started!

rainbow cascade badge.jpg

Welcome to the Rainbow Cascade Quilt Along! I’ve been so excited to share and today is the day we begin!

Rainbow Cascade is the single 10″ paper pieced block you see above, made in a literal rainbow of colors, all put together to create one stunning quilt!

The free pattern includes complete paper pieced patterns in shaded & unshaded versions, 1″ scale for proper printing, suggested cutting instructions to make piecing (and chain piecing!) easier, Coloring Pages for all quilt sizes, fabric amounts needed, and printing permission in case you’d like to print at a copy shop.

Need to learn to paper piece? I can help with that!

On the second and fourth Mondays of each month through April, I’ll be sharing a nudge and letting you know which blocks to make next.

To make this as easy as possible, and to not tie you down to a single quilt along (because we all know that never works!),  you will never need to make more than four blocks in a two week period.
Fabric pull for #rainbowcascadeqal! We begin next Monday on #sewhooked. I'm working entirely from stash to make the 70" x 80" version. Will you be quilting along? Show us your #fabric! #quiltalong #qal #freepattern #sewhookedpattern #jenniferofenstein #ra

I’m making my personal Rainbow Cascade quilt as a stash-busting project. I’ll be talking about that more tomorrow on Talk to Me Tuesday!

I highly recommend using an Add-A Quarter-Ruler during paper piecing to minimize bulk AND to press seams open when piecing paper pieced sections together.

I was looking forward to participating in the Rainbow Cascade challenge. Unfortunately, the pattern will not print. 😦 Is there somewhere else that the pattern can be obtained? I’m thinking it might be too big, although with the width being only 10 inches, it should print. I’ve tried printing from two different browsers.

    Thank you,

    Susan

I have found that if I save a pattern to my computer, then print from the download, it works, when it won’t work normally. Try that. I just did that, and it printed out great.

ooh I love this! Especially with the black background. If I understand it correctly the colours is one rainbow, one grey and a black or white background?
