I will have another Intro to Paper Piecing/Beginning class at Honey Bee Quilt Store this fall. I’m thinking of revamping the class a little and introducing a new project! More to come on that as it percolates. One of my favorite classes, Unfinished Paper Piecing, will also be back on the schedule! I will have both dates on my Schedule right here on Sewhooked a little later in the summer.
And, we have a winner! It was a VERY close race between Quirk & The Fonz…congratulations to sciencemel and her Roaming Gnome!
A Huge, HUGE thank you to everyone that participated and everyone that voted. We had a total of 240 voters and every entry received votes, which is always great to see!
sciencemel, you’ll receive a flickr message from me regarding your prize.
And…the winner!

The rules were simple: make any project from a pattern or tutorial designed by me, Jennifer Ofenstein, and take a photo of yourself and/or your project at a fun or interesting location and then post that photo to the Sewhooked flickr group!
You did that and you had FUN with it!
Enjoy the photos below, and then try to pick a favorite. It’s your job to decide how FUN and/or INTERESTING the photos are and then choose your favorite.
Please note: In cases where more than one photo of the same project was posted, the most recent entry was entered. Thanks for your enthusiasm in posting pictures!

The non-embroidered blocks, as well as the snowball corners, came from the fabric I treated myself to after my Trunk Show. I say “treat,” but I was really restocking my stash after the frenzy of sewing in April/May.
I think I’ll add borders and make this a baby-sized quilt and save it for a gift. Goodness knows I’ve needed enough baby gifts the last few years!
Project of Doom Signature Quilt (3/12 – March) – Top pieced!* Borders added & embroidery in progress.
Granny’s Signature Quilt (4/12 – April) – Complete! I am creating a mini-bio for each person whose name appears on this quilt, thanks to a great deal of help from my mom
The Project of Doom (5/12 – May) – Complete! Look for this quilt at the AAQG‘s show in September.
In addition to creating new designs for Sewhooked and working on 12 for 2012, I’ve been able to squeeze in a little fandom stitchery! There’s no therapy quite like it for me!
Since I’ve had EQ7, I’ve been slowly going through all my old patterns (both fandom and non) and giving them an overhaul. For the most part, my goal has been to simplify the patterns and make them more appealing to others to piece, as well as less color-soaked for easier printing. After all, what’s the point of sharing if no one wants to actually make the pattern?! 😉
This week, I updated my TARDIS pattern. Both the original, and the highly simplified updated version are available for free through Fandom In Stitches.
I was particularly happy with the free-motion quilting on this one. I’ve been working hard this year to improve my technique and to expand the variety of patterns I can do.
I can’t wait to see your Summer Challenge photos! The poll will be posted on Monday…as well as a photo of the prize…which has grown a bit since it was originally posted!
I have not forgotten about my June 12 for 2012 (last year’s Embroidery BOM)! It is in progress and I should have it finished by Friday, which is still June! Woo!
After seeing this recipe for making a gallon of hand soap on Pinterest, I could not resist giving it a try!
It takes one bar of hand soap, 2 TBS liquid glycerin and 1 gallon of water. So simple!
I used a bar of tea tree soap for my version, and followed the recipe to the letter. My house smelled extra-nice for a couple of days, and the soap smells just as good.
For the first few hours after cooking, the soap looked a bit like milky water, but once it was completely cooled, it was absolutely the perfect consistency for a hand pump.
I doubt the refills will last for a year for my family, but we will get a lot of use out of that one bar of soap!
If you try this, make sure you have containers ready to go. I filled all my soap dispensers as well as one empty soap refill bottle, but I had to improvise with the rest.
I have some insanely talented friends. They are inspiring, creative, fun, supportive and just oh-so-many other things!
Amber is one of these people.
She’s the Crochet Princess responsible for Amber’s Originals. She has supported me though many an endeavor and I’m absolutely bouncing to share her exciting news!
Amber has created the most amazing one-woman amigurumi crochet food display, possibly in the history of EVER…
Cooking With Crochet: Tasty Textile Treats features crochet food made by Amber Lowery. The show is live now through July at the Peoria Public Main Library.
