TTMT #793 – Thrifted Top Finish! (Quilty Show & Tell)

In this week’s show & tell, I’m delighted to share my finished thrifted quilt! I found the quilt top at Austin Creative Reuse a few weeks ago. The quilting is free motion and was a wild ride due to the hand piecing. I also share a couple of small finishes. Links below!

Hat Pattern-ish!
The crochet hat is made with an H or I hook. For the adult hat I show here, chain ~38 (or as many as you need to reach nose to crown), turn, sc across, turn, ch 1, sc across in back loops only. Repeat until you reach the width you want, then turn, ch 1, slst in the back loops to close, gather the top, tie off, top with a pom pom if you like and you’re done!

Free Pattern Friday: Sherlock Holmes’ Churchwarden Pipe Bookcase Block

free-pattern-friday

Hello, my friends, and welcome back to Free Pattern Friday!

As mentioned in recent videos, I’m working on a bookcase quilt for my husband. I’ve been sharing these new designs here and on Fandom in Stitches, both free for your personal use.

We both love Sherlock Holmes, so adding our favorite fictional detective to his quilt was a no-brainer!

Next up is Sherlock Holmes’ Churchwarden Pipe, inspired by my favorite Holmes portrayed by Jeremy Brett. This will be my last Holmes’ themed designed for now.

I hope you enjoy this pattern. I look forward to bringing you more new bookcase blocks as I design them!

The following patterns are designed by me, Jennifer Ofenstein, and are free for your personal use. Links go to Google Docs that you can save or print. ♥

Free Pattern Friday: Sherlock Holmes’ Persian Slipper Bookcase Block

free-pattern-friday

Hello, my friends, and welcome back to Free Pattern Friday!

As mentioned in recent videos, I’m working on a bookcase quilt for my husband. I have already designed several new blocks that I’ll share here and on Fandom in Stitches as they are ready.

We both love Sherlock Holmes, so adding our favorite fictional detective to his quilt was a no-brainer!

Next up is Sherlock Holmes’ Persian Slipper. This is inspired by one of our favorite quotes from the short stories:

“But with me there is a limit, and when I find a man who keeps his cigars in the coal-scuttle, his tobacco in the toe end of a Persian slipper, and his unanswered correspondence transfixed by a jack-knife into the very centre of his wooden mantelpiece, then I begin to give myself virtuous airs.”

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle,

The Adventure of the Musgrave Ritual

I hope you enjoy this pattern. I look forward to bringing you more new bookcase blocks as I design them!

The following patterns are designed by me, Jennifer Ofenstein, and are free for your personal use. Links go to Google Docs that you can save or print. ♥
