It should also, by now, not be a secret that I love Star Trek.
My very first website was a Star Trek fan site, way back in the early internet days of 1996. Seriously, 1996. I wrote the HTML in Notepad and hosted it through my ISP. It was back in the day of Geocities and entire pages consisting entirely of links. I still remember creating my first animated .gif: the Voyager ship flying across my website, and how unbelievably proud I was of that.
My, how times of changed! Fortunately, my love of fandom has not and since then, it’s way cooler to be a geek. Who knew that would ever happen!
To celebrate Star Trek on Summer of Stitching, I created a Picard Quote sampler of some of my favorite utterances from the man himself. The pattern is free for personal & non-profit use. I do hope you’ll enjoy it!
Sneak peek of my design for the current theme, Harry Potter Quotes. I have been planning this one for the entire event, and I really can’t wait to share!
I’ve had such fun this summer challenging myself to create a new design for each week of The Summer of Stitching on Fandom In Stitches. I’ve even waited to start my designs until the announcement, despite knowing what comes next. I do love a challenge!
The latest theme was Monty Python, and I couldn’t create just one! Using Monty Python’s Flying Circus for my inspiration, I used two of what I think are the most iconic things from the show.
One being the infamous “It’s” as spoken by the It’s Man prior to the intro to every episode of MPFC.
If you’re feeling patient, this is 9+ minutes of the It’s Man!
The second design I shared was inspired not only by the every fabulous and entertaining Ministry of Silly Walks, but also by a stencil I designed some years ago to make t-shirts for my Python-loving family. this version can be used for either purpose.
The Ministry of Silly Walks has been such a big part of my family’s lives, my son even played John Cleese’s part in a theater sketch in middle school. Fun times!
The Summer of Stitching is an open invitation to anyone that might like to design quilt patterns in one of 12 themes presented through August and into September.
I have given myself the goal to create a new pattern for each theme. Patterns can be any technique: paper pieced,
I hope you enjoy this free pattern and visit Fandom In Stitches for more fun summer stitching!
The next theme is I ♥ Books and my brain is churning away with ideas!!
Coming July 29, I’ll be posting a new design for the College Days blog hop, hosted by Whims & Fancies. Click the banner for new designs all through July by a plethora of talented designers!
