TTMT 802 – Lots of things! (A Quilty Crafty Show & Tell)

Hello, my friends! Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback from my tie-dye birthday video for Jewells (@nmjewells)! Your reaction was fantastic!

Today I’m sharing several projects that I’ve held on to for one reason or another, the big one being last week’s BIG video, including a surprise gift from Amber, some kind of mind-blowing free-standing lace, and a finished quilt!

Keepsake Quilting is accepting donations through October 31, 2024. Details are here. – UPDATE: As of October 23, Keepsake is asking people to hold further donations until further notice.

I am an amateur at tie-dye! I used easy-to-purchase and easy-to-use dyes for that reason.

All shirts were pre-washed with a free & clear detergent and were damp when they were tied and dyed. Tulip instructions recommend a 6-8 hour dye time, but a rabbit hole of tie-dye info later and I left in a closed zip bag for 24 hours each. It’s hard to argue with the results! Each shirt was hand rinsed until the water was clear and then washed alone twice with detergent, each time with an extra rinse. The zip bags were also washed and dried for reuse for future craft projects.

If you’re looking to make your own tie-dye, I found great inspiration from the following channels:

Free Pattern Friday: Jack’s Lanterns & Pumpkin Border!

free-pattern-friday

Hello, my friends, and welcome back to Free Pattern Friday!

October is one of my favorite months, and Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I’ve designed a lot of Halloween-inspired projects over the years, many of them for free.

Today I’m pulling a Halloween pattern out of my retired pattern archive to share with you for free! As a bonus, I finished up an idea I’ve had bouncing around for years: a 10″ pumpkin frame to use with any 6″ pattern, including Jack’s Lanterns!

If you use any of my free patterns, I’d love to see what you do with them! Leave a link in the comments or tag me @sewhookedjen on IG.

The following patterns are designed by me, Jennifer Ofenstein, and are free for your personal use. Links go to Google Docs that you can save or print. ♥

TTMT 799 October TTMT BOM

October is here and that means new TTMT BOM patterns! I’ve also been working on a slew of gifts, so this week’s video is a short one. Not to worry, I’ll be back soon with much more fun craftiness. One of my favorite videos I’ve ever made is coming up later this month!

TTMT BOM Month 6 (October) chosen by Jewells (Julia M), both patterns from Delaware Quilts.

TTMT 797 – Such a Holiday

(For some reason, WordPress auto-embed is being stubborn, and I can’t get today’s video to appear in the post. I’ll keep trying, so fingers crossed for asap!)

Hello, friends! I’m home and finally getting re-combobulated after some gnarly jet lag. Our Nat Geo trip to Greece was absolutely brilliant! I share a bit about that along with some video clips and photos at the end.

TTMT #795 – #ttmtbom Month 5

Today I’m coming to you from the past while I’m romping around the world with my favorite guy! I’m sharing my #ttmtbom blocks for September as well as some goodies I made for Jewells and her daughter.

Hat Pattern-ish!
The crochet hat is made with an H or I hook. For the adult hat I show here, chain ~38 (or as many as you need to reach nose to crown), turn, sc across, turn, ch 1, sc across in back loops only. Repeat until you reach the width you want, then turn, ch 1, slst in the back loops to close, gather the top, tie off, top with a pom pom if you like and you’re done!

TTMT #794 – Surprise Charity Quilt Finish!

Join me this week as I share a surprise quilt finish! I’ve been trying to use my pre-trip jitters for good and managed to finish a quilt and several small projects. Most of the orphan blocks in this quilt came from Sarah in Houston with a couple from Kristel. It will be going to Project Linus Albuquerque, NM via my bff Jewells!

Supplies I used for my custom thread boxes (affiliate links)

  • Bird Feeders with Cameras on Amazon (affiliate link) – Please note that there are LOTS of bird feeders with cameras out there, and even some that have a spot for the camera of your choice. What works for me may not work for you, so I won’t recommend a particular camera. If you’d like a setup like this, go for what you think would work best for you. Happy birding!

TTMT #793 – Thrifted Top Finish! (Quilty Show & Tell)

In this week’s show & tell, I’m delighted to share my finished thrifted quilt! I found the quilt top at Austin Creative Reuse a few weeks ago. The quilting is free motion and was a wild ride due to the hand piecing. I also share a couple of small finishes. Links below!
