I’m extra excited to share today’s patterns because it’s not only one of my favorite things I’ve shared with Quiltmaker, but it’s one of my favorite patterns that I’ve ever designed!

I had such fun creating this block and I hope you love it as much as I do!

Be sure to keep reading to the end to find out how to be entered to win today’s prize!

Special Delivery block by Jennifer Ofenstein, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol. 12, 2016

Here it is: Special Delivery!

You’ll find this red-wearing fella and his sleigh full of presents on page 19 of Vol. 12.

See more of my Sunbonnet Sue designs.

Special Delivery block by Jennifer Ofenstein, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol. 12, 2016 To add a to the fun, I embellished my block with hand embroidery (patterns included in the magazine).

Special Delivery block by Jennifer Ofenstein, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol. 12, 2016

How about a snowflake? Here in Austin, Texas, it’s likely to be the only snow I see this year!

I also had a lot of fun playing with Special Delivery and combining this block with some of my other designs to see what kind of fun quilt layouts I could come up with.

Here are two of my favorites:

Table Runner idea with Special Delivery and On, Dasher! by Jennifer Ofenstein

Here, Special Delivery meets my reindeer block, On, Dasher! for a fun Christmas-themed table runner.

Quilt idea with Special Delivery and On, Dasher! by Jennifer Ofenstein

This layout is a bit more ambitious, with the same number of blocks as the table runner, but with the reindeer set in an arc. I just love this idea! Imagine this with a fun snowflake print fabric or lovely hand embroidered embellishments like oodles of snowflakes and reins for the reindeer team!

On, Dasher! A paper pieced pattern by Jennifer Ofenstein

Like On, Dasher? You can find him in my Craftsy Pattern Shop!

Just like all of my patterns, Special Delivery and the above fun layouts were designed in EQ.

Since we moved to the country, in the Pacific NW, my favorite winter activity is to play in the snow with our dogs.

Oh, the pattern is adorable. Congrats on the publish. The pattern is great stand alone and even better with Dasher. I know you are not apt to see any more snow that with your design in Austin. However, my daughter lives in Albuquerque and teaches high school math. Yesterday she sent me a pix of her school parking lot covered in snow. That’s crazy. Thanks for the giveaway, too.

My favorite winter activity is hand quilting. Not very active, I know, especially when I snack as I hand quilt. Wish it were skiing or snowboarding…

Great block! This will be my second winter in a place that has snow (I moved from California to Kansas). We didn’t have much snow last year and I’m dying to have a SNOW day so that I can have a SEW day with music playing and the fireplace roaring! Thanks for the giveaway!

Your block is cute. My favorite winter time is when the family gathers at the cabin and we take long walks in the snow then gather around the fireplace to drink warm apple cider. Snow and family times—perfect joy.

Cute block and I really like the table runner idea. I love anything that has to do with snow, it doesn’t snow here so playing in it is always a treat.

I live in Arizona so winter is a little different here. I love to take my young granddaughters (2, 5 &7) to the park to play. It’s not to hot and not too cold; it’s just right! For grownup time, hot toddies by a fire pit.

This block cracks me UP!!!! So great!!!! Here in Maryland we love sledding and making igloos (I have an 8 yr old boy). We are going to try glowing igloos this year with glow sticks. Seeing we have had the warmest November, we are ready for some snow makin’ temps! Congrats again on a great block…. so cute!

Your Sunbonnet block is really cute…congrats on being in the magazine. As I get older I think my favorite winter activity is just snuggling under a quilt on my couch and working on some hand sewing. I am here in Central Texas and if it keeps raining like it is today we might not see snow but maybe ice….stay warm and keep on with the wonderful blocks.

Love those reindeer! My husband has worked for John Deere for over 35 years, so we have many “deer” around our house during the holiday season. Living in Iowa, I should enjoy outdoor snow activities, but I don’t. I prefer to sew the day away or curl up with my pup and a good book in front of the fire. duchick at gmail dot com

My favorite winter activity is to curl up in a cozy chair in a dark room with a mug of cocoa (with marshmallows) and a candle on the window-sill, and watch the snow come down. Works best if you have a flood-light mounted above the window (on the outside).
    If not that, then sewing.
