Rainbow Cascade – Nudge for Set 3

rainbow cascade badge.jpg

Welcome back to the Rainbow Cascade Quilt Along!

Rainbow Cascade is the single 10″ paper pieced block you see above, made in a literal rainbow of colors, all put together to create one stunning quilt!

The free pattern includes complete paper pieced patterns in shaded & unshaded versions, 1″ scale for proper printing, suggested cutting instructions to make piecing (and chain piecing!) easier, Coloring Pages for all quilt sizes, fabric amounts needed, and printing permission in case you’d like to print at a copy shop.

Need to learn to paper piece? I can help with that!

On the second and fourth Mondays of each month through April, I’ll be sharing a nudge and letting you know which blocks to make next.

To make this as easy as possible, and to not tie you down to a single quilt along (because we all know that never works!),  you will never need to make more than four blocks in a two-week period.

Rainbow Cascade – Nudge 2

rainbow cascade badge.jpg

Welcome back to the Rainbow Cascade Quilt Along!

We’ve passed the two-week mark and it’s time for our next prompt.

But first, some housekeeping:

After numerous requests, I’ve decided to make some small updates to the Rainbow Cascade instructions in order for it to be in true ROYGBIV order.

This change will only affect you if you’re making a Rainbow Cascade in the 30″ x 40″ OR 40″ x 50″. For these two sizes, the amount of Orange and Yellow blocks needed will be reversed. 3 Yellow & 2 Orange for both quilt sizes.

If you’re making ANY other quilt size, the ONLY change will be the block order when piecing the quilt top, not the number of blocks you make.

If you finished your first set of blocks, alternative instructions will be noted in the chart below in parenthesis. If you are at all confused, please let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

I am truly sorry for the change. I had planned to leave the order red>yellow>orange, but it was causing confusion, and I didn’t want that at all.

Pattern pages updated:

  • Blocks Needed Per Quilt Based On Size (pg 7)
  • Block Schedule for Quilting Along (pg 8)
  • Block Color Order Per Quilt Size (pg 9)

Free Pattern Friday – Love Flag!

free-pattern-friday

Welcome back to Free Pattern Friday!

After YEARS and years of being asked to do so, I have created a Sewhooked Suggestion Box! The Suggestion Box is a way for you to suggest pattern ideas directly to me.  I can’t make any promises that I can (or will) create a design from every suggestion, but I will do my level best to take them all seriously.

You can find the Sewhooked Suggestion Box linked in the main menu at the top of this page. More details at the link.

Today’s pattern, Love Flag was a special request that went something like this, “I really wish a pattern like this existed…”

Well, now it does! It’s super simple to paper piece and finishes 6″ x 9″.

Extra special thanks to my Instagram followers for the encouragement and to Jessica for testing!

Enjoy. ♥

Vintage Linen SampleI recently acquired a pre-stamped, very old fashioned linen sampler, complete with age spots. After having it in my stash for a couple of months, I’ve decide what it really needs is rainbow thread.

Talk about some seriously happy stitching! Just having this in my hands makes me feel content.
