Free Pattern Friday: Turkey Talk!

free-pattern-friday

Hello, my friends, and welcome back to Free Pattern Friday!

This week, I’m sharing an oldie! Turkey Talk was designed in 2011 and sold in a local quilt shop. It was later available for sale online and has been retired since 2019 when I closed my online shop.

This simple and cute pattern combines paper piecing, traditional piecing, and hand embroidery for a fun autumnal design. You could also use machine embroidery for the text.

The finished quilt hangs on my front door every year at this time. I’d love to see it hanging on yours!

If you use any of my free patterns, I’d love to see what you do with them! Leave a link in the comments or tag me @sewhookedjen on IG.

The following patterns are designed by me, Jennifer Ofenstein, and are free for your personal use. Links go to Google Docs that you can save or print. ♥

Free Pattern Friday: Jack’s Lanterns & Pumpkin Border!

free-pattern-friday

Hello, my friends, and welcome back to Free Pattern Friday!

October is one of my favorite months, and Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I’ve designed a lot of Halloween-inspired projects over the years, many of them for free.

Today I’m pulling a Halloween pattern out of my retired pattern archive to share with you for free! As a bonus, I finished up an idea I’ve had bouncing around for years: a 10″ pumpkin frame to use with any 6″ pattern, including Jack’s Lanterns!

If you use any of my free patterns, I’d love to see what you do with them! Leave a link in the comments or tag me @sewhookedjen on IG.

The following patterns are designed by me, Jennifer Ofenstein, and are free for your personal use. Links go to Google Docs that you can save or print. ♥

TTMT #794 – Surprise Charity Quilt Finish!

Join me this week as I share a surprise quilt finish! I’ve been trying to use my pre-trip jitters for good and managed to finish a quilt and several small projects. Most of the orphan blocks in this quilt came from Sarah in Houston with a couple from Kristel. It will be going to Project Linus Albuquerque, NM via my bff Jewells!

Supplies I used for my custom thread boxes (affiliate links)

  • Bird Feeders with Cameras on Amazon (affiliate link) – Please note that there are LOTS of bird feeders with cameras out there, and even some that have a spot for the camera of your choice. What works for me may not work for you, so I won’t recommend a particular camera. If you’d like a setup like this, go for what you think would work best for you. Happy birding!

TTMT #793 – Thrifted Top Finish! (Quilty Show & Tell)

In this week’s show & tell, I’m delighted to share my finished thrifted quilt! I found the quilt top at Austin Creative Reuse a few weeks ago. The quilting is free motion and was a wild ride due to the hand piecing. I also share a couple of small finishes. Links below!

Hat Pattern-ish!
The crochet hat is made with an H or I hook. For the adult hat I show here, chain ~38 (or as many as you need to reach nose to crown), turn, sc across, turn, ch 1, sc across in back loops only. Repeat until you reach the width you want, then turn, ch 1, slst in the back loops to close, gather the top, tie off, top with a pom pom if you like and you’re done!
