Free Pattern Friday – Holly Jolly with Bonus Santa!

As a thank you to my wonderful Ko-Fi supporters, I wanted to share some extra free content in December.

Today’s share is one of my most popular paper pieced sets ever, Holly Jolly.

I originally designed this set for a book I was contracted to create way back in 2008. Sadly, that book was canceled and, despite many tries, I was never able to sell it to another publisher. That was the impetus to my turning Sewhooked into a pattern company. I published my patterns independently both online and in print for sale through quilt stores until 2019.

Bonus Santa was added a few years before I stopped selling pattern because he was just too cute not to share!

This pattern and many more have been retired an unavailable since 2019. Now, this sweet little set is yours to make for free!

Holly Jolly includes:

Lil’ St. Nick, Lil’ Mrs. Claus, Wonky Lil’ Christmas Tree, Santa’s Helper, Wee Lil’ Penguin, and bonus pattern, Santa with his Bag.

I have a feeling that most of my long-time blog friends are going to look at these patterns and say to themselves, “Huh, I thought I’d seen those before…”

I admit it, it’s true. While working on Sunbonnet Sue’s Magical Friends, I created these patterns and briefly posted them as free content. They have not been online in quite some time now, but emails about them have never stopped. They’re back now, with newly updated easier to read, full-color patterns, just in time for a little bit of Christmas crafting!

These patterns were not included with the original set because the holiday theme just didn’t quite work. Even so, I adore these characters. They’re some of my absolute favorites!

Sunbonnet Sue’s Magical Friends are inspired by the classic Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam blocks, with a fun, whimsical twist!

Complete paper pieced patterns and sewing order for each. Pattern can be printed in color or gray scale.

Last week, I shared three paper pieced patterns for Lil’ St. Nick, Mrs. Claus and Santa’s Elf.

ETA July 12, 2010 – These patterns will be available again November 2010 through the Sewhooked Shop.

Over the weekend, those three patterns were combined with a new pattern, Little Wonky Christmas Tree to give you the wall hanging shown, made for our friends, Eric & Dominae.
