My Favorite Things – November

Welcome back to Sewhooked for the November installment of My Favorite Things, my 2016 Block of the Month!

My Favorite Things includes 12 original patterns to paper piece in both 6″ and 12″, as well as a FOUR BONUS BLOCKS to mix and match your own favorites!

These patterns are MY Favorite Things, but I very much hope that you will find some of your favorite things in the mix.

***IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT HOW THIS BOM WORKS***

The first day of each month in 2016 is FREE PATTERN DAY. At that time, you can download* the monthly BOM pattern for free from 8am CST on the 1st to 8am CST on the 2nd (i.e. 1/1/16 – 1/2/16). After that time, each month’s pattern will be available for $2 from my Craftsy Pattern Shop. Bonus blocks will be included at no additional cost every three months.

*Please note that you will need to save or print on Free Pattern Day . The free pattern link will expire @8am CST on the 2nd of the month.

I have a love-hate relationship with the awesome swiftness of finishing a project with hot melt glue and the inevitable burned fingers and dripped glue strings!

My finger burning greatest glue gun project to date was a Halloween costume that consumed almost 100 sticks of glue! This is my son (way back in 2009!) as a character from the Red vs. Blue series. The costume pieces are foam, plastic, paint, and glue! It gave my mini-glue gun the workout of it’s life!

Signature Quilt Invite:

If you’ve played along with me before, then you know that I ADORE signature quilts and always invite event participants to share a signature block to be included in a special keepsake that I keep.

You are very sweetly invited to make a Signature Block for the My Favorite Things Signature Quilt!

Choose YOUR favorite 6″ block from My Favorite Things & make it with the fabrics of your choice. Add your name and location. Names can be hand or machine embroidered, added with fabric paint or pen. Please, no iron-on transfers.

This is not required, but it is much appreciated!

6” blocks are due January 31, 2017. This will give you plenty of time to pick your favorite block! Don’t worry, I’ll share lots of reminders along the way.

In December, I will release instructions for FOUR quilt layouts (all of them optional, of course!) that you can use for your My Favorite Things.

Each layout lists fabric amounts for four quilts using either 6″ or 12″ blocks with and without Bonus Blocks.

In which I revisit my 2016 UFO List to see what I have left to do for this year!

I cut a long ramble out of this week’s video about the state of my foot. As you may remember due to the ridiculous amount of times I’ve talked about it, I had surgery on my right foot in June. My three-month recovery is now into the fourth month. I’m still having some issues that, while they aren’t slowing me down too much, are going to require additional physical therapy to correct. I’ll be starting that today. The hope is that more intense guided therapy will help complete my recovery and I can go back to my normal crazy-active life without quite so much thought for The State of the Foot! I’ll keep you updated, but will try to spare you the five-minute foot-related video rambles!

My Favorite Things – August Pattern Correction

Hellow, My Favorite Things Quilters!

We’ve had at least one pattern download for August (Glitter) that included an incorrectly sized page 7.

If you’ve already made your Glitter block without issues, yay! You can ignore the rest.

If you purchased the pattern through Craftsy, that version has been updated and is now entirely correct.

For those of you that downloaded your pattern on Free Pattern Day, here is the corrected page you need to complete your 12″ Glitter block:

TTMT #389 – Post-Travel Edition, Some Housekeeping & a Flickr Prize!

Portobello Hotel, Notting Hill – The awesome boutique hotel we called home for a week.
Sherlock Holmes Museum – There’s not a lot on the website, but google it, there are pics! I can’t understate how amazing this was for a Holmes fan!
My hubby’s Travel Blog – My husband, Eli, wrote about our trip every day we were there. ♥

I’d love to ONLY talk about our trip to England, but I have some housekeeping to do as well.

First of all, Craftsy relaunched on October 1. They’ve changed their entire structure, including how links are created. Among other things, the permalink to the Sewhooked pattern shop disappeared. I’ve emailed them for help and hope to have it sorted out soon. In the meantime, you can still find all of my patterns published through Craftsy, including My Favorite Things, by going to my Craftsy profile.

Secondly, Google has been doing some updates to Blogger. Fandom in Stitches is hosted on Blogger. I came home from vacation to a half-functioning FiS. (Do you, too, sense a post-vacation trend?) The menus disappeared, among other things. I’m working on it as quickly as I can, in the meantime, if you can’t find something, please let me know by emailing the Fandom in Stitches Admin address.

I’m happy to share that The Linus Connection website has been unaffected by all this craziness! Small favors, right?
