I love turtles. I have turtle fabric, plush turtles, turtle doo-dads, and turtle geegaws.
Thanks to my sister, I even have a turtle niece!
Also, turtle patterns!
I originally created the cleverly-named Sea Turtle for a swap back in 2007. This sweet guy has been updated for 2017 with more defined flippers and a new (optional!) two-tone look.
Original Sea Turtle from 2007
The new version of Sea Turtle can be made as a 6″ or 10″ finished block. Make him one color or use the pattern shading to make him a lovely two color turtle.
The instructions for this layout (all four versions in both 12″ & 6″) will be posted in December after all blocks are released.
These layouts are entirely optional and you are in no way obligated to use this design to create your quilt. This is here for your convenience if you wish to choose fabric in advance.
Please note that this contains layout only (including block backgrounds, sashing, flying geese, additional solid blocks and cornerstones). You will need small amounts of additional fabric to create the items in each block.
Every pattern for this BOM has been tested by both myself and Amber Lowery, friend and awesomesauce pattern tester!
Want a chance to win a fun, free prize each month during 2016? It’s easy! Make today’s pattern (or any pattern designed by me) and share it with my flickr group. You’ll be entered to win for each photo you share! Winners to be announced on the first Friday of each month.
Today is Show & Tell for the pattern testers and designers! Be sure to visit these fun blogs to check out all some of the incredible projects made from out Row Along!
If you remember way back to three weeks ago, my Spring row looks like this! I couldn’t resist coming back this week for a little show & tell!
I used the blocks from my row to create the super fun baby quilt to donate to my favorite blanket charity based right here in Austin, Texas, The Linus Connection. I donated my very first blanket back in 2002 and have been going strong ever since. The blankets and quilts go to children in crisis in Central Texas and I’m proud to be a long time volunteer! ❤

Spring is my favorite season. The winter blues are driven away, the trees begin to bud, spring babies are born and the earth begins to turn green again!
My idea was to celebrate my favorite season with baby chicks, fresh out of their eggs, pecking around the grass and flowers for something good to eat.
Every pattern in my row is a 6″ (6 1/2″ unfinished) paper pieced block. Follow the instructions in the pattern to make this row, or mix and match to make your own fun row or other quilty project!
I’m absolutely loving the beautiful tonal white background fabric from Northcott! Anyone that visits regularly knows that I’m a bit of a Northcott junkie with Stonehenge being one of my all time favorite fabrics!
The entire row is paper pieced with optional embroidery or paint for the chicks’ eyes. I drew mine on using Tulip Fabric Markers.
Small pieces freak you out? Try chain piecing them!
PJ7 Pattern will be emailed upon request. Please contact sewhooked@gmail.com.
Another fun picture of my Spring row. 🙂
Want something completely different? The patterns for my row can also be turned into a fun quilt! I plan to make one very much like this for my favorite blanket charity, The Linus Connection.
PJ7 Pattern will be emailed upon request. Please contact sewhooked@gmail.com.

Occasionally, I’ll retire one of my designs. This happens for a variety of reasons. Perhaps I designed the pattern for an event or for a person. Maybe I’m not happy with the design or it’s too complicated to share.
Whatever the reason, I rarely bring those retired patterns back, mostly because I have so many new things to work on, that I just flat out forget!
You can thank Emily for emailing and asking about my Rearing Unicorn pattern. I had taken it down ages ago because I wasn’t happy with the complexity level of the pattern. Thanks to Emily’s email enquiring as to where she could find this pattern, it has been updated for 2015 and restored to it’s proper place: Magical Creatures on my Harry Potter page!
It’s almost time for another wonderful issue of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks and I’m excited to once again be included among some of the most talented designers in the world! Look for the blog tour coming May 4 – 8 and for my post on May 7…there will be PRIZES!
