While organizing the #TFiOS Design Challenge over on Fandom In Stitches, I could not resist designing a couple of patterns myself.

Ehem.

The Fault in Our Stars has been one of my favorite books since the first time it was placed into my hot little hands.

As well as being a beautifully written, it is also an extremely quotable book. With that in mind, I created two versions of the same image, both just waiting for Your Words Here.

The design on the above left will work either for applique or for hand embroidery.

The design on the above right is paper pieced, but will also work just fine if you’d like to embroider the clouds after piecing.

I tend to be very closed mouthed about my political beliefs. This is a place for crafts and happiness, right?

This one, I just can’t be quiet on.

So I’m straight, yeah, you guys know that. I’ve been married to the best guy in the world for almost two decades. I consider myself fortunate that I live in a country in which I can be married to the person I choose and I see a real problem with everyone not having the same choice.

That’s it. My soapbox. I’m straight, but I’m not narrow.

Tabby Face Block Lotto!

Welcome to the Tabby Face Block Lotto!

How would you like to win a pile of Tabby Face blocks made by quilters from all over the world?

This is your chance!

During the month of September, make up to five Tabby Face blocks, mail them to the address below, and be entered to win.

One lucky quilter will win them all!

Rules for Entry:

Use the free Tabby Face pattern to make a quilt block. Pattern also available on Craftsy!
Cats can be tabby or calico (see above for examples)
Use a bright tone on tone or solid background. Red, yellow, blue, orange, etc. work great to make that kitty face stand out! Please avoid pastels and black backgrounds.
Blocks must finish 5 1/2″ when trimmed. Make sure your printer is set to “no scaling” or “actual size” for best results. This step is very important. Blocks that are the incorrect size will not be included in the lotto.
Please staystitch 1/8″ from the raw edge of your block and then remove the paper. Staystitching helps prevent stretching on bias edges and removing the paper will help save the sanity of the winner!
Embroidered (hand or machine) whiskers are optional.
Please sign block(s) with your name and location on the front, lower right of the block (bottom of the kitty face or in the background fabric) using a quality fabric pen. Micron Pigma Pens are awesome for signing!
You may enter up to 5 blocks. Each block receives one entry. If entering more than one block, try to make each of your cats different. The more variety, the better!
Please include your name, mailing address and email address on a 3″ x 5″ card with each block you enter. This is very important as it is how the winner will be chosen, contacted and the blocks mailed.
To be entered to win, mail your blocks to Tabby Face Block Lotto c/o Sewhooked; 12903 Margit Dr. Austin, TX 78729, USA.
Blocks must be received by October 1, 2012. Winners will be announced October 2.

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks around here. My sweet tabby, Tackett, just finished a round of antibiotics, with two prescriptions left to go.

We still don’t know if he has cancer, but we’re optimistic. He’s more vocal, more energetic and he’s eating more. ALL are Good Things. If it is the big C? Well, we will continue to take the best care of him we can and make sure he had the happiest life a fur baby can have.

As a small thank you to everyone that has sent love and well wishes, and of course everyone that’s taken advantage of the Tackett sale, which has helped tremendously with the vet bill, I want to share this free pattern, Tabby Face. It’s a simple pattern based on two of my older designs, Grumpy Cat and Happy Cat.

Welcome to Day 28 of Sewhooked’s Paper Pieced Pattern-A-Day Garden Party Blog Hop! Hey, ho, it’s my birthday! This is a post full of PARTY and PRESENTS for both you and me, so make sure you read all the way to the end! It’s been quite a birthday month for me, what with the amazing-ness of the Garden Party, being part of the Ties That Bind Blog Tour (giveaways and coupons, oh my!) and Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks and the 100 Blocks Blog Tour both on the way! TODAY, my original quilt The Project of Doom, is on display at the Pflugerville Area Quilt Show hosted by Hennig House Quilts! If you are in the Austin area, please stop by for this super fun outdoor, non-juried show! Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, Vol 5 will be available for sale on May 8. Please support your local quilt shops and go pick up a copy! You can find me on pages 22 and 31! If you will be in the Austin area on May 12, please stop by Honey Bee Quilt Store to see me! More information on that right here. And now…what you came for…Garden Party! My block, Perennial Pleasures, is a reminder to myself to take a few minutes to sit and do nothing, something a dear friend of mine has reminded me on occasion that it is OK to do! We’ve broken out the wine, the table is decorated and the sky is lovely and blue, how relaxing! For those non-wine lovers out there, I’ve included alternate pattern pieces for a sweet butterfly.
