Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Vol. 12 Blog Tour

Welcome to my post for Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, vol. 12 Blog Tour!

I’m extra excited to share today’s patterns because it’s not only one of my favorite things I’ve shared with Quiltmaker, but it’s one of my favorite patterns that I’ve ever designed!

I had such fun creating this block and I hope you love it as much as I do!

You’ll find this red-wearing fella and his sleigh full of presents on page 19 of Vol. 12.

To add a to the fun, I embellished my block with hand embroidery (patterns included in the magazine).

How about a snowflake? Here in Austin, Texas, it’s likely to be the only snow I see this year!

I also had a lot of fun playing with Special Delivery and combining this block with some of my other designs to see what kind of fun quilt layouts I could come up with.

Table Runner idea with Special Delivery and On, Dasher! by Jennifer Ofenstein

Here, Special Delivery meets my reindeer block, On, Dasher! for a fun Christmas-themed table runner.

This layout is a bit more ambitious, with the same number of blocks as the table runner, but with the reindeer set in an arc. I just love this idea! Imagine this with a fun snowflake print fabric or lovely hand embroidered embellishments like oodles of snowflakes and reins for the reindeer team!

31 Days of Halloween – Witches’ Brew

Happy Thursday! We’ve got just a few more days left in our 31 Days of Halloween journey and I do hope you’ve enjoyed every step of the way!

Today, we’re revisiting more fun patterns from the massive collection I’ve created over the years and turning their original Harry Potter-ish intention towards things Halloween!

First, we have the humble cauldron, a staple in any witch’s pantry!

Today, we’re revisiting one of my first-ever patterns made for sale, A Little Haunted.

This wonky little haunted house was inspired by a piece of artwork drawn by my son when he was still a little kid.

My little kiddo turns 18 in a couple of months, so that was some time ago!

A Little Haunted includes all the directions and pattern pieces you need to make the haunted house with boarded up windows or this simplified version, perfect for fussy cutting!

31 Days of Halloween – Vampires & Werewolves

It’s Monday, October 5, and that means another fun post for the 31 Days of Halloween right here on Sewhooked!

Today, I thought I’d share two free paper pieced patterns that I designed for fandominstitches.com, but that work beautifully well for Halloween, too!

The first up is my Vampire Fangs pattern, designed with my vampire-loving friends in mind. I still love those chompers!

Vampire Fangs is 5 1/2″ (5″ finished) paper pieced and absolutely free!

Prefer Craftsy? You can download it there, too! Next, how about a spooky Howling Wolf? While I imagine him as a werewolf, use your own imagination as to where he might fit in your Halloween plans. He’s shown here as part of a cushion I made for a friend ages quite some time ago. I still love that circle fabric in the border!
