Surprise! New pattern – Signs Signs Signs

Surprise!

Guess who has been working on a new pattern in between all the other craziness?!

You guessed it!

Some time ago, Robin B. made an amazing suggestion that I have had in the back of my mind ever since – a multi-directional signpost.

With all the travel I’ve been doing this year, I absolutely could not resist designing this one. I did a little research and a little sketching. I worked up a pattern and sent it off to my pattern testers.

It is now tested and ready to share!

This awesome, versatile pattern is perfect to express your wanderlust or to point to where your loved ones are, or maybe share your favorite fandom locations. Think fabric with existing text, hand or machine embroidery, stenciling, fabric markers, the list goes on!

10″ x 30″ (10 1/2″ x 30 1/2″ with seam allowance) as shown, made using three paper pieced blocks.

Need more signs? Duplicate and rotate the center block! Add to larger projects or make as is for a fun wall hanging.

Includes full-color instructions with fabric amounts, suggestions, and paper pieced pattern.

And here is Amber’s fantastic tested version! She has big plans for this and I can’t wait to share what she does!

If  you try your hand at this pattern, I’d love to see what you do with it over in the Sewhooked Facebook Group! Not on Facebook? Tag me on Instagram (@sewhookedjen) or Twitter (@sewhooked)!

Thank you for stopping by and have a fantastic weekend! 😀

See you soon!

New Pattern – Braided Confetti!

title

I’m delighted to share a new(ish!) pattern!

braided kaleidescope 500x500

A version of this pattern (above), originally known as Braided Kaleidoscope, was published in a magazine many years ago. The magazine went out of business and the copyright has reverted to me. Because it’s not been available for some time, I thought it would be fun to update the pattern for 2017 (almost 2018!), turn it from a single block into a quilt, and share it with you!

While the piecing hasn’t changed, the color HAS. The new version is colored quite differently to create a new effect. It’s also designed to make a 46″ quilt.

Make it scrappy, soft, or bright. Whatever works best for you!

Pattern includes fabric amounts, paper pieced pattern units, coloring page, and instructions to make the quilt shown here, all for just $4.95.

New Pattern – Frosted Firs

Frosted Firs Title

I debuted Frosted Firs in yesterday’s Talk to Me Tuesday because I just couldn’t wait for the official pattern release!

20170103_172719

Frosted Firs was inspired by my family’s winter trip to Utah in January 2017. We rarely get winter weather in Austin, and snow was high on my adult children’s wish list. There is a point when they don’t really need “stuff” anymore, so we gave them a snowy experience instead!

Frosted Firs Sample Block

The Frosted Firs block can be paper pieced as a 6” block or as a 12” block.

Frosted Firs quilt

Quilt instructions & fabric amounts are included in the document to make the 46″ x 64″ quilt shown here. Quilt layout uses the 12″ version of the block.

holiday house

Bonus updated version of  Holiday House to mix & match with Frosted Firs.

table runners

Frosted Firs is a very versatile block and can be mixed & matched any way you choose for a variety of fun wintery finishes!

The pattern includes a 6″ & 12″ pattern for Frosted Firs, quilt instructions for a 46″ x 64″ quilt using the 12″ pattern, a coloring page, more idea suggestions, and an updated version of Holiday House as a bonus. The complete pattern is $4.95 and is available on either Craftsy or Etsy.

Free Pattern Friday – Holiday House 2017

free-pattern-friday

Welcome back to Free Pattern Friday!

After a week away from Free Pattern Friday for charity work, I’m back with a fun favorite, Holiday House!

Holiday House was first shared as part of a blog hop back in 2011. I’ve updated the pattern for 2017, adding a 10″ version for your piecing pleasure!

I can’t help but think that Holiday House would make a fantastic block swap!

I’m extra excited to share today’s patterns because it’s not only one of my favorite things I’ve shared with Quiltmaker, but it’s one of my favorite patterns that I’ve ever designed!

I had such fun creating this block and I hope you love it as much as I do!

Special Delivery block by Jennifer Ofenstein, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol. 12, 2016

Here it is: Special Delivery!

You’ll find this red-wearing fella and his sleigh full of presents on page 19 of Vol. 12.

See more of my Sunbonnet Sue designs.

Special Delivery block by Jennifer Ofenstein, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol. 12, 2016 To add a to the fun, I embellished my block with hand embroidery (patterns included in the magazine).

Special Delivery block by Jennifer Ofenstein, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol. 12, 2016

How about a snowflake? Here in Austin, Texas, it’s likely to be the only snow I see this year!

I also had a lot of fun playing with Special Delivery and combining this block with some of my other designs to see what kind of fun quilt layouts I could come up with.

Here are two of my favorites:

Table Runner idea with Special Delivery and On, Dasher! by Jennifer Ofenstein

Here, Special Delivery meets my reindeer block, On, Dasher! for a fun Christmas-themed table runner.

Quilt idea with Special Delivery and On, Dasher! by Jennifer Ofenstein

This layout is a bit more ambitious, with the same number of blocks as the table runner, but with the reindeer set in an arc. I just love this idea! Imagine this with a fun snowflake print fabric or lovely hand embroidered embellishments like oodles of snowflakes and reins for the reindeer team!

On, Dasher! A paper pieced pattern by Jennifer Ofenstein

Like On, Dasher? You can find him in my Craftsy Pattern Shop!

Just like all of my patterns, Special Delivery and the above fun layouts were designed in EQ.
